Silent Edelweiss
Lyrical Novel
(2024)
At only 23 years old, Edelweiss loses her ability to speak in the wake of a life-altering diagnosis. Grieving the loss of her old life, she travels across the sea to visit the small island where her grandparents live, hoping to find healing, and most of all, her voice. She longs for someone who will listen to her, even when she can’t speak.
The quiet, peaceful island days fly by, and Edelweiss begins to find healing through the inhabitants of the island. But will she be able to reclaim her voice, or will it become yet another thing her diagnosis has stolen from her?
Silent Edelweiss is a lyrical novel that tells the story of a woman who lost her voice and found herself in the silence. Poetry and prose weave together to create a mesmerizing story that captures both the vulnerable intimacy of a poetry collection and the emotional journey of a novel.
High atop the rugged mountains,
she sits.
The limestone through which she grew
has scraped away at her
and left her voice ragged.
The howling wind and the falling snow
drown out every word
she has tried to say.
Despite the world that seeks to hush her,
the silent edelweiss
still has a message to convey.
Becoming the Dawn
Poetry & Short Story Collection
(2023)
If you feel like brighter days will never come, Becoming the Dawn is for you. This collection of poems and short stories will sit with you in the darkness until you feel ready to become your own light. From anxiety and insecurities to grief and tragedy, this book explores the types of darkness we face throughout our lives but will ultimately leave you believing that both you and your light are more resilient than you think.
Becoming the Dawn is a poetry collection about reaching down into our deepest selves and discovering hope in the face of suffering and despair. The book is divided into two parts. The first, Twilight’s Veil, explores the moments that shroud us in darkness, delving into negative self-image, anxiety and depression, difficult platonic and romantic relationships, discrimination, and death, sickness and loss. The second part, Dawn’s Mantle, reveals the light that is waiting to be discovered within us when we decide to lift twilight’s veil by refusing to relinquish our hope.
When the sun
fails to shine,
you must reach inside,
and pull the light
out of yourself.
